Blog Stage 6: Comment

You make a good point Geoffrey. Voting is a privilege that shouldn’t be abused or ignored. Having a say about who’s in charge can have a very personal and direct effect on everyone’s life. People should care about who their mayor is, they should give their opinions.

However;

I’d life to point out that, in the grand scheme of things, one vote isn’t going to mean much. Very few elections will ever be decided by one or two votes. So convincing people that every single vote counts, that their personal vote counts, is difficult; not impossible, but difficult.

Also, of course you can complain about officials even if you don’t vote. People do it all the time! It’s an old saying that means well, but isn’t really the truth.

I think it’s time to retire it and use a different approach. One that focuses on what you can do, how to change things for the better; Do you think that would work?
